It can be overwhelming when it comes to choosing the right body briefer. It is best to begin by looking at your needs. Start with control. Are you looking for light shaping, or firm sculpting, or something in between? What areas of your body need the most support? Tummy? Hips? Thighs? Waist? Our selection here covers the range from very light support, such as the Grenier 6548 Teddy; to moderate support, such as the Rago 72545 Body briefer; to firm support - Va Bien 1292 Bodysuit; to extra firm support, including the Rago Shapette all-in-one girdle line. These are just examples, there are many more to choose from. A light to moderate control body briefer is ideal for smoothing out your shape and providing a little support. Firm to extra firm control body briefers (or corselettes, as seems to be the more common term in the UK), provide more shaping/sculpting. You can evidence the biggest difference when you've tried on a dress that previously fit fine, but now just doesn't hang right or feel right. These all-in-one girdles will make a big difference. Don't expect miracles though. If you have a dress that you can't fit into at all, even an extra firm control body briefer probably won't save you.There are several different style to choose from. All are bra sized (you choose based on band/cup size rather than waist or hip measurements), and most are brief-style. These are designed for shaping the chest, waist, tummy, and hips. If you also need thigh support, then opt for the long leg body briefers. After these choices, there are a lot of variations. The Va Bien 1294 and Flexees 6841 are strapless and popular for providing firm control from chest to thighs; the Va Bien 1500 has a low plunge bra section and straps that can be changed to suit your dress; and the Grenier 6535 is an open bottom all-in-one girdle with garters for nylon stockings. Speaking of garters, a number of these body briefers have tabs for adding garters, and some, such as the Rago Shapette 9051 body briefer and Shapette 9071 all-in-one girdle come with garters.
